Over a period of time my beloved iMac started to experience a number of issues with applications “Safari Unexpectedly Quit”.
Having read about applications crashing I did a number of things including:
- deleted cache
- deleted preference files (which can become corrupt)
This still didn’t fit it
- archive and install OS X
still didn’t fix it, but at least I was sure this was not a software fault
so to test the hardware there’s a handy utlility called “apple hardware test” utility (instructions) which showed me there was a problem with the RAM module I’d bought .
Removing the extra RAM stopped the issues immeditely, so I’m returning the faulty module and getting a replacement.
